The 1966 Ford/Shelby Cobra 427 is an absolute legend, often considered the pinnacle of the American muscle car philosophy and one of the most iconic vehicles ever built. The Cobra was the brainchild of Carroll Shelby, who had the brilliant (and somewhat insane) idea of dropping a massive American V8 into a lightweight British roadster chassis. The 427 model represented the ultimate evolution of this concept before production ended. A small number of cars (believed to be 31) were built as the competition-ready “S/C” package. These featured a larger oil cooler, side exhausts, a racing hood scoop, and a reinforced roll bar. These are the most valuable and sought-after 427 Cobras today.
